There we sat at the top of the chute. The bottom of the hill looked so far away.
The exertion of climbing the hill warmed us to the point of sweating. Yet here on the top we quickly cooled down as the wind cut into our faces.
“Are you ready for this?”, I asked as I sat myself toward the front end of the toboggan.
“Ready or not here we go!”, she yelled as she scooted our sled forward, put her legs around me and grabbed me around the waist.
The sled started out slowly but quickly picked up speed. The wind bit my eyes and blew tears across my face. As the slope steepened my stomach was left behind. We flew down the hill as if in free fall.
Exhilarated, we arrived at the bottom of the hill much sooner than we hoped.
“What a ride! That was fun! Let’s do it again.”
And so we did. And so should you!
Here in Ohio where we live, winter has begun. Snow is on the ground and it is cold out. Instead of hunkering down indoors for the winter, let’s make a point of getting out together.
