This week’s featured Spouse Date couple is Greg and Creasia!
Greg and his wife Creasia have been married four years and live in Blue Springs, Missouri. I literally laughed out loud when I read about the thunder that accompanied their first date.
Greg, how did you and Creasia first meet?
We first met in a grocery Store. She told me God had a plan for my life that included a new, good season. Neither of us knew it was God’s plan she be part of that new good season.
What was your first date and what encouraged you to keep dating?
Dinner and movie. Thunderously passed gas in the theater and she was very gracious about it. At dinner her first two questions to me where, am I gay? and am I promiscuous? I liked her straightforwardness and grace.
What was your best date ever and what made it so outstanding?
Really, every date for me is gold because I really enjoy my wife’s company. We just spent the weekend in Chicago. I took her to the Shedd Aquarium and really enjoyed seeing her face light up with delight at the sea life. I took my wife on a missionary trip and was so proud of her to see her handing out gospel literature despite her fear. She was willing to take great risk for Jesus, but also me.
How do people describe you as a couple?
People tell me my wife loves me enough for four women. People say we are happy. She always introduces me as her trophy husband.
What’s one of the biggest challenges you have faced as a couple and how has that challenge affected your marriage?
The only challenges we have ever had revolve around my daughter. My wife is her step mom. I feel like my wife is sometimes too hard on my daughter and it hurts me. I’m learning to listen more and not be so defensive; to marinate on my wife’s perspective for a bit before responding, if I do.
What is something you are most proud to have created together?
Great memories! A great Marriage.
What is one of the best marriage resources that have helped you in your efforts to build a better marriage?
Love and Respect Live Marriage Conference DVDs by Dr. Emerson Eggerichs.
Tell us about an “Aha!” moment that you have had in your marriage and how that has helped you become a better spouse.
I’ve had a string of choosing gifts for my wife that she did not like. So I’m very conservative when choosing gifts now, mainly sticking with money or gift certificates from her favorite stores. Also, never comment on the amount of shoes in her closet, ever!
When you think about your future together, what are you most excited about?
Her maintaining my lifestyle when I retire. She is ten years younger than I. Seriously, traveling on vacations and hopefully mission trips together.
What is your idea of the ideal date?
Somewhere new to us and doing a new experience together.
