Celebrate Chinese New Year with a Spouse Date

Celebrate Chinese New Year with a Spouse Date

Celebrate Chinese New Year with a Spouse Date

January 31st, 2014 is the beginning of the 15 day long Chinese New Year celebration.

This is a great opportunity for you to plan a cross cultural date experience for you and your spouse. Unless of course you are Chinese.  Then you get to plan a date to celebrate your own culture and honor your heritage.

Here are three ways you can celebrate Chinese New Year with a spouse date:

1. Attend the Chinese New Year festivities in your area.

Most cities and towns have a Chinese community that is sponsoring New Year celebration events.  If you are fortunate enough to live in a city with a Chinatown then you will know where to go.  Otherwise you can Google this:  “Chinese new year activities [type your town/city] 2014”.  See what is going on and plan to attend an event together.

2. Make plans for dinner and a movie, Chinese style.

Put a new spin on the tried and true dinner and a movie date.  For dinner you can go out to a Chinese restaurant or order Chinese take out and bring it home.  Then you can watch a Chinese movie together.  There are a number of excellent Chinese films available.  Check this list of 10 Amazing Chinese Movies.  You could find one on Netflix or rent one from your local library.

3.  Get crafty and create your own at home Chinese themed date.

If have time and want to be creative you can prepare an elaborate themed date for you and your spouse to enjoy at home.  Here are two great ideas:

Dating Divas:  Chinese Please

Love Actually:  Chinese Date Night

It is not too soon to start planning your date for next week.  Hope these ideas help.

We would love to hear what are you planning.  Share in the comments!
