Happy World Television Day!
If you have not started planning a date with your mate for next week, now is the time!
Not sure what to do? Here is an idea: Thursday November 21st is World Television Day.
Rather than bemoaning the negative effects of television on relationships, decide to make it a point of connection for you and your spouse.
- Talk with your spouse about each of your earliest childhood television memories. Share with each other what were some of your favorite childhood TV shows and why.
- Using a service like Netflix or your local library find a TV show that you and/or your spouse loved to watch as a kid or that has special meaning to either of you. Make a date to watch a few episodes and reminisce.
- Find a TV series that neither of you have watched but think you would both enjoy. Make plans for a marathon date and see how many you can watch at once.
- Make a recurring date and schedule a night each week to watch a favorite series together.
Television can be an inexpensive but good way to date your spouse but you have to be careful.
Be sure that watching TV is in NOT the main component of your date. Watching TV must not be the objective. You must make it a priority to have face to face time. Discuss what you watch. Just watching TV is not a date.
Remember that what makes a date a date is that you are enjoying each other’s company and getting to know each other better.
What do you think? What are some other ways you could use television as a point of connection with your spouse?
Oh, and, what are your date plans? Tell us about it in the comments.
Come on! We NEED to know!

My husband and I decided to give the TV show Castle a try and we ended up loving it so much we bought all 7 seasons. I’m a writer and I like crime shows and my husband likes mystery/adventure. We both like how the show is lighthearted at times, intelligent, and real… it’s funny and there’s joy in the middle of this scary world. Our favorite thing to do is curl up on the couch and cuddle together while watching episodes together.
