Why Renewing Your Vows is so Important

December 24, 2018 by Steve

Many years ago, you made a commitment to your spouse in front of your friends and families. This promise has kept you together through everything; children, stress, and maturing as people. Although you make the effort with dates and the things you do for each other, you can make the ultimate commitment again. Renewing your vows is a great step to show your appreciation for your significant other.

Vows

When you first got married, you may have repeated the traditional vows to one another. If that was the case, take the time to write something new this time around. Your dedication to your partner is a great way to show your love and appreciation in your own unique way. In your vows, describe what your time together has meant to you and include stories about how you first met or things that you have overcome to show how far you have come as a couple. Don’t bring up anything too private or hurtful. Telling personal stories and what they mean to you is a great way to renew your commitment for the rest of your life.

Another Ring

Your wedding rings represent your special bond to one another. They are worn on the left hand ring finger because it was believed that that is where the veins lead straight to your heart. Getting new rings to present at your renewal can symbolize a new stronger connection to each other. If you need to be inspired, look online! Jewelers, like Blue Nile, can help you choose from an assortment of options to find the perfect wedding ring to help you reaffirm your love. Another popular option is to add more stones to either the engagement ring or wedding band for the time you have spent together. Some will get a newer setting with stones on either side of the diamond to represent the past, present, and future. This also a great way to repair a band if there are loose stones or dulled gold plating. This upkeep is essential to your rings as well as your marriage.

Second Honeymoon

If you’re renewing your vows, then you can take another honeymoon! This is a great way to appreciate and spend time with each other. You can get away from everyday life and just focus on your relationship. And it doesn’t have to be a weeklong vacation. What matters is prioritizing the time for your marriage. Just taking a day to really enjoy each other’s company can rekindle the romance. Remind yourself how special this relationship is. It can be very easy to take your partner for granted when life gets extremely busy and you’ve been together for so long. Take this time to slow down and acknowledge everything you do for each other.

Celebrate

Another great part about renewing your marriage is that you can have another celebration with family and friends! Come together and see everyone that’s been missing from the holidays and other parties. Plus after all the dedication and time, you and your significant other deserve a party that celebrates your marriage. A party to honor the strength of your relationship is a positive way to reconnect and reaffirm your love for one another. Your commitment to each other is an inspiration for the people around you.
