How did you first meet?
We met online and then realized we went to the same large church.
What was your first date?
Our first date started as happy hour. Went out dancing and ended with pancakes at IHOP until 4am. Fabulous!
As a couple, what is something you have struggled with or a difficulty you have overcome? How would you encourage other couples that may be facing the same challenge?
We love to encourage people that even after divorce it is never too late for the marriage of your dreams. It is also not easy. We love to encourage other couples that are dating after divorce as well as blending families. We have had our share of challenges and credit God and communication with what gets us through it.
What was your best date ever and what made it so outstanding?
We had an amazing date for Valentine’s Day one year. I thought for sure it would end with a proposal. Perfect place, amazing meal, perfect wine, delicious dessert. Most of all, he always makes me laugh and fabulous conversation. The night needed with him giving me an Adel DVD. Not exactly a ring! The ring came as a total surprise on a random Tuesday night 3 weeks later. He proposed in front of 200-300 women at church. It was perfect!
What are some marriage resources that have helped you build a better marriage?
5 Love Languages by Gary Chapman, Sexpirment by Ed and Lisa Young, Jesus Calling and Counseling
Tell us about an “Aha!” moment that has helped you become a better spouse.
I can’t and don’t need to fix everything. When I am always trying to work everything out to try to please everyone it doesn’t work. And that is okay 🙂
If you could go back in time and give your newlywed selves one piece of marriage advice, what would that be?
Communication is key.
When you think about your future together, what are you most excited about?
Being empty nesters. Getting married with children there is no honeymoon period. You do it all backwards. Love the kids but we will have fun later as well.
What is your secret to a happy marriage?
Putting God first.

Great story and very much on target approach to marriage and especially one after divorce with blended family challenges. Happy to be your neighbor today at the Linkup at Messy Marriage.
